To a St. Patricks Day Party with Taste

Sick of green beer and plastic leprechaun hats on Saint Patricks Day? Let's take our Irish celebrations up a notch in taste and authenticity and party with style this St. Paddy's Day.

From drinks, to decor, to music, to attire, to trivia for conversation, to the best places to party like an Irish Squire; from your place to Boston to abroad. We'll leave no Blarney stone unturned...

Think you can keep up? Grab a Guiness and let's get going!

SLÃINTE! This toast (pronounced 'slawn-cha', is how the Irish say Cheers!)

Say Cheers for St. Pattys Day

Slainte! When you belly up to the pub with a Guiness pint glass; either in your hand or on your tshirt, all will know you're a friend of the Fair Isle... If you're hitting a true Irish bar that is! This example has a traditional pub pint behind the Gaelic word for "Cheers"

May the good Lord take a liking to you...

But not too soon!

Invite a Sense of Humor to your St. Patty's day Party

St. Patricks Day Party Invitations

The Irish have a good sense of humor and a keen respect for their favorite social lubricator; beer. I designed these St Patricks Day Party invitations to combine these themes in a way that raises the rowdiness to a whole new level.

Great Irish Toasts for the St. Pattys Day - Raise your pint glass

So much of Ireland's culture revolves around the local pub, as does so much of its great music and culture. Toasts are one of my favorite glimpses into the Irish psyche. Make sure to buff up on your repertoire here before you hit the bar!

Raise a Proper Pint

Guinness Pub Glasses, Set of 4

A real Irishman expects his evening ale in a perfect pint filled right to the top. Any diversions from the norm might cause a riot. Better get equipped.

Traditional Irish Toasts to Raise a Glass to

  • May you be in heaven a full half hour before the devil knows you're dead.
  • May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live.
  • It is better to spend money like there's no tomorrow than to spend tonight like there's no money!
  • May your home always be too small to hold all your friends.
  • May I see you grey and combing your grandchildren's hair.
  • Here's to being single... Drinking doubles... And seeing triple!
  • Here's to a long life and a merry one. A quick death and an easy one. A pretty girl and an honest one. A cold pint-- and another one!
  • To live above with the Saints we love,

Ah, that is the purest glory.

To live below with the Saints we know,

    Ah, that is another story!

  • Here's to the land of the shamrock so green,

Here's to each lad and his darlin colleen,

Here's to the ones we love dearest and most.

May God bless old Ireland, that's this Irishman's toast!

A Joke with a Sense of Eire for the Pub

An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scotsman go into a pub.

Each orders a pint of Guinness. Just as the bartender hands them over, three flies buzz down and land- one, two, three- in each of the pints.

The Englishman looks disgusted, pushes his pint away and demands another... the Scotsman picks out the fly, shrugs, and takes a long swallow.

The Irishman reaches in to the glass, grabs the fly between his fingers and shakes him as hard as he can, shouting 'Spit it out, ya bloody bastard! Spit it out!'

Get in the Celebrating Spirit

Bring in the Saint Patty's day spirit with sounds of the pub. To get in the spirit here's a sampling of some fun Irish pub classics.

Guiness Posters for your own home pub

Started in 1749 when Arthur Guiness purchased his first brewery, Guiness has become an icon, a friend, a rallying cry, a dinner. A great product and great advertising has sealed its place in history. Bud light with Green dye is hardly an appropriate Irish way to toast a celebration. Liven your party place with the real thing, in your pint glass and on your walls!

Hungry? Import some Irish Delicacies

Surprise (and shock?) your mates. Goes great with Guiness! Will they be begging for more pudding? Maybe not.

What could be more authentic than St. Patty's day in Ireland. If you're hankering for the real thing, here's the guide for you!

There are a lot of good things exported from Ireland. Music is no exception. Which Irish pop star tops your charts?

So many double entrendres here; getting bombed might be of the drunken or literal distinction pending on your viewpoint; Boston vs. Belfast, and carrying on... well, after a evening of full pints... who doesn't?

Tams and Scally Caps for your Lad

No Leprechauns need apply! St. Patty's day sees a see of garish green headgear. But what does a self-respecting laddie wear? Something tweedy and restrained to keep the chill off. Take a peek.
